Creative Therapy Consultants provides occupational therapy and community rehabilitation in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Our Vancouver office is at 306-595 Howe Street, Vancouver, BC V6C 2T5. We see clients at home, at work, in the community and online.
Our Howe Street office is downtown, a short walk from Granville and Burrard SkyTrain stations, so clients can reach us by transit. We visit clients from the West End and East Vancouver to Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey and the Fraser Valley, including people coming home from Vancouver General, St. Paul's or GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre. Work across the region ranges from offices and health care to construction, the port and film production.
The Vancouver team includes occupational therapists Alisha Manji, Julia de Haas and Jaci Benson, a kinesiologist, and registered clinical counsellor Claire DeWitt. Our kinesiologist and counsellor see Lower Mainland clients in person, as well as online.
Clients are referred by WorkSafeBC, ICBC, Veterans Affairs Canada, long-term disability insurers, employers and lawyers. For ICBC clients we provide rehabilitation under Enhanced Accident Benefits and bill ICBC directly. The goal is function and independence at home, in the community and, where possible, at work.
Our occupational therapists build graduated return-to-work plans for people in Vancouver who are off work after an injury or illness. A plan can include a job site visit, a job demands analysis, ergonomic changes and regular updates to the employer, case manager and doctor. Our occupational therapists complete functional capacity evaluations (FCEs) for clients in Vancouver, for insurers, employers and lawyers. An FCE measures what a person can safely do, such as lifting, carrying, sitting and standing, and compares it with the demands of their job. Call us to confirm where the testing will take place. Registered clinical counsellors on our Vancouver team see clients online, and in person where it can be arranged. They help with anxiety, depression, trauma and workplace stress, using approaches such as CBT and EMDR. See counselling and mental health.
If you were hurt in a crash in BC, ICBC's Enhanced Accident Benefits can cover your rehabilitation in Vancouver. Occupational therapy is arranged and approved through your ICBC recovery specialist, and counselling is pre-approved for up to 12 sessions in the first 12 weeks after the crash. Creative Therapy Consultants is a contracted WorkSafeBC provider. If you were hurt at work and have a WorkSafeBC claim, your case manager can refer you for occupational therapy, kinesiology, counselling, an FCE or vocational rehabilitation in Vancouver. To arrange community rehabilitation in Vancouver, the client's case manager, adjuster, disability insurer, employer or lawyer sends a referral to referrals@creativetherapyconsultants.ca or calls 1-888-880-3222, or uses our online referral form. We contact the client within 1 business day of the referral, and the client gets their clinician's direct phone number and email. Sessions take place at home, in the community, at work, online or at our Vancouver office.
