Our Gordon Drive office is a short drive from Kelowna General Hospital, so therapy can start soon after a client gets home. We visit clients from Lake Country and Glenmore to Rutland, the Mission, West Kelowna and Peachland along Highway 97. Return-to-work plans here often involve construction, orchards and wineries, tourism and hospitality, and jobs at UBC Okanagan and Kelowna International Airport.
The Kelowna team includes occupational therapists, kinesiologists, registered clinical counsellors and rehabilitation assistants.
Clients are referred by WorkSafeBC, ICBC, Veterans Affairs Canada, long-term disability insurers, employers and lawyers. The goal is function and independence at home, in the community and, where possible, at work.
Our occupational therapists build graduated return-to-work plans for people in Kelowna who are off work after an injury or illness. A plan can include a job site visit, a job demands analysis, ergonomic changes and regular updates to the employer, case manager and doctor. Our occupational therapists complete functional capacity evaluations (FCEs) for clients in Kelowna, for insurers, employers and lawyers. An FCE measures what a person can safely do, such as lifting, carrying, sitting and standing, and compares it with the demands of their job. Call us to confirm where the testing will take place. Registered clinical counsellors on our Kelowna team see clients online, and in person where it can be arranged. They help with anxiety, depression, trauma and workplace stress, using approaches such as CBT and EMDR. See counselling and mental health.
If you were hurt in a crash in BC, ICBC's Enhanced Accident Benefits can cover your rehabilitation in Kelowna. Occupational therapy is arranged and approved through your ICBC recovery specialist, and counselling is pre-approved for up to 12 sessions in the first 12 weeks after the crash. If you were hurt at work and have a WorkSafeBC claim, your case manager can refer you for occupational therapy, kinesiology, counselling, an FCE or vocational rehabilitation in Kelowna. To arrange community rehabilitation in Kelowna, the client's case manager, adjuster, disability insurer, employer or lawyer sends a referral to referrals@creativetherapyconsultants.ca or calls 1-888-880-3222, or uses our online referral form. We contact the client within 1 business day of the referral, and the client gets their clinician's direct phone number and email. Sessions take place at home, in the community, at work, online or at our Kelowna office.
