Rory Fisher
Registered Clinical Counsellor
BSW, MC, RCC
Rory Fisher is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who takes a clinical, trauma-informed approach to supporting individuals in creating meaningful and lasting change. He is passionate about helping people identify and address the root causes of their struggles, rather than only managing symptoms, so they can achieve long-term results. Rory currently works with adults aged 19 and up.
Rory completed his Bachelor of Social Work and began his career working with youth transitioning out of the foster care system. This early experience shaped his commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and building strong therapeutic relationships.
He later worked with the Raven Program as a Child and Youth Addictions Counsellor, where he gained extensive experience supporting youth facing substance use and mental health challenges. Rory also worked as a Family Violence Counsellor in a provincially mandated program, supporting both survivors and individuals who had used violence, which helped him develop a comprehensive and balanced clinical perspective.
Rory completed a Master of Counselling degree and became a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). He has worked as a Child and Youth Clinician, providing clinical support to children and youth experiencing complex mental health concerns, while also collaborating closely with families and support networks. In addition to his public sector work, Rory works part-time in private practice with Creative Therapy Consultants. He also holds an Aboriginal Studies Certificate, strengthening his cultural competence and sensitivity in working with Indigenous peoples in Canada.
Rory has experience working with a wide range of clinical concerns, including addiction, family therapy, trauma (both acute and complex), cluster B personality disorders, and complex mental health conditions such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). He also has experience supporting individuals impacted by motor vehicle accidents and related trauma, as well as grief and loss.
Rory’s approach is grounded in building strong therapeutic alliances with his clients. He uses a flexible and individualized style, drawing from a variety of evidence-informed therapeutic modalities to match each client’s unique needs and goals. His primary approaches include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), for which he is EMDRIA-trained, as well as attachment-based and Polyvagal-informed therapy. He is also trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and Narrative Therapy.
Rory is known for his practical, collaborative, and client-centered style. He focuses on helping individuals resolve the underlying causes of their challenges so they can experience lasting and meaningful change.
